When one studies Buddhism, one studies oneself; when one studies oneself, one forgets oneself; when one forgets oneself one is enlightened by everything and this very enlightenment breaks the bonds of clinging to both body and mind not only for oneself but for all beings as well.

About

The Sandpoint Meditation Group is affiliated with the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives, headquarters at Shasta Abbey, Mount Shasta CA. Rev. Master Zenshō Roberson leads the group. He is a disciple and Dharma heir of Rev. Master Jiyu-Kennett, founder of the Order.

All are welcome. No one will try to sign you up for anything or solicit money. Meditation instruction is offered for those unfamiliar with our form of meditation practice.

Meetings and Location

We regularly meet for meditation twice a month, on the first and third Saturdays, at the Sandpoint Quaker Center, located at 1025 Alder Street, Sandpoint, Idaho.  Please plan to arrive by 9:45 AM so that you can be settled and ready to start when the meditation period begins.

Because the group sometimes meets at other times, or in other places, the week before the next meeting we send out an email reminder that keeps interested parties up to date. If you would like to receive these reminders please contact us at:

You may also telephone Rev. Master Zenshō at (208) 245-4950 to double check our current schedule and meeting place.

If you are new to Serene Reflection meditation practice, please arrive a few minutes early for a brief orientation.  Typically, we practice a combination of sitting and walking meditation for a total of about 60 minutes. This is followed by a short ceremony and a Dharma talk..

Donations:  (Dana or Generosity of Spirit)

The Sandpoint Meditation Group is supported entirely by donations. A portion of any donation is offered to the Sandpoint Quaker Center for the use of their facilities. The remainder is used to support the Group and assist Reverend Master Zenshō, who drives from St Maries to meet with us.
